AC/DC was formed by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young in Australia in 1973. Although mostly considered a hard rock band they are also considered one of the originators of heavy metal. Their first album High Voltage was released in 1975. They followed that up with additional popular albums Powerage and Highway to Hell. In 1980, lead singer Bon Scott died from alcohol poisoning. Brian Johnson was hired to replace Scott as the lead singer of AC/DC. The next album released was Back in Black, a tribute to Scott. Back in Black became the number one selling album of all-time. This album is often considered one of the premier hard rock albums ever. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and For Those About to Rock were next to be released. For Those About to Rock became AC/DC's first number one record in the United States. AC/DC has released over 25 albums with over 200 million in sales worldwide. In 2003 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
